Sabre’s Security Dept. Wins Cogswell Award
Sabre was among the 23 companies that were recent recipients of The Defense Security Service’s 2008 James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award. Chosen from a pool of 12,000 defense contractors subject to annual inspection, the winners met criteria focused upon principles of industrial security excellence. Factors included establishing and maintaining a security program that far exceeds the basic National Industrial Security Program requirements; and providing leadership to other cleared facilities in establishing best practices while maintaining the highest standards for security.
The Cogswell award, established in 1966, was titled in honor of the late Air Force Col. James S. Cogswell, the first chief of industrial security within the Department of Defense. Cogswell was responsible for developing the basic principles of the Industrial Security Program, which include an emphasis on the partnership between industry and government to protect classified information. This partnership ultimately ensures the greatest protection for the U.S. war fighter and our Nation’s classified information. The Cogswell Award recognizes industrial security excellence.

With more than 400 of the region’s top community and business leaders in attendance, the Summit was an opportunity to celebrate the top corporate stewards in the Greater Philadelphia area.
Sabre’s title as one such leader was confirmed when the company was ranked 46th on the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Corporate Charitable Contributors list (ranked determined by 2006 local cash contributions).
“Sabre has been recognized for many things. This is something that really stands out for me. It is a testament to the many employees we have who believe in giving back to the community and who share their time and gifts in support of worthy causes,” contends Sabre President, Phil Jaurigue.
Phil isn’t the only Sabre employee that feels this way. Sr. Executive Director of Marketing and Communications, Margot Margle, attested to Sabre’s longstanding tradition of giving back to the community during a recent interview with the Philadelphia Business Journal.
“I’ve been with the company for a long time and I know it well. As we’ve grown, we’ve encouraged giving back to the community, in particular, in those areas where we have offices. Most of [our designated employees] come up with their own ideas and then bring them to the table, and we want to support the kinds of things that are really important in the community,” Margle stated in the interview.
Great work to all employees who have helped Sabre assume this prestigious title!
